M5 Pictures from James Howell

James sent me these to put up on STT. Here is some of his notes on it:

Here's the story:  I was looking through Craigslist last fall when I saw a listing for an M5 in Missouri, so I called.  The young man had just inherited the truck from his uncle who passed away.  The uncle was the second owner of the truck and had purchased it when it was quite new...so essentially he was the only owner.  It was his daily driver in his home town but it was babied and saw little use.  It had 15,000 miles on it last September.  I've been working on M5's for over 40 years, so I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of their (many) shortcomings and wear spots.  This one looked totally genuine at 15,000 miles.  I asked him for some photos and he sent me about 15-20.  I've included the best ones for your viewing.  The best part of all is the documentation.  He had the original bill of sale with numbers to match the vin plates...both of them.

 

There's no salt rot on the wheels and the fenders look good.  It also came with the original jack, photo included.  It looks to be a dealer doll-up, because it came with some nice add-ons, and a windshield washer!  The young man even said it came with two extra "jars".  Sadly, pending tuition for two kids this year, kept me from buying it.  He sold it for a VERY reasonable price to someone in his hometown, so I hope it went to a good home.  I tried to explain what he had and help him understand what a rare bird it was.

 When was the last time you saw a chassis tag in this good of shape?

 Any body know what "ceramic" is on this sales order?
